In the old days children had no books, they simply learned everything by memory. The basic helping factor in that case was chastity of life. To have chaste lives in thought, word and deed is a great blessing for students especially. Chastity is a power which gives strenght to your brain and your body. It is a great tonic with which no other outer tonics can compare. It not only gives you strenght physically and mentally, but if it is developed more than is needed by the body, it changes into a power called "ojas". This power helps you transcend from the finite to infinity. This then, is the first thing which enables students to prepare for the higher life.
